Our private fitness studio in Saanich, BC is fully equipped with a Stair climber, Spin Bike, treadmills, elliptical, free weights, TRX, Functional trainer, BOSU’s, physio balls, skipping ropes, tubing and more.

Amazing Trainer

Owner Kristie Byer is a Medical Exercise Specialist and is certified in Non-Competitive Kickboxing, TRX training, Bosu Balance training, Third Age Fitness, Pre/Post Natal Fitness training, Pilates, Fitness Nutrition and Spin Instruction.

What our clients say

Two to three times a week I work out at Chikara with trainer Kristie Byer. I am in my mid 50s and started to work with Kristie a few years ago because my normal workout regime was simply making a chronic back problem worse. I wanted a regular regime that combined some personal training sessions and some small groups classes which put the emphasis on strengthening and stability, as well as cardio fitness. Kristie has been able to bring my fitness level up through personal attention and directed exercises that do not irritate my back. The classes, including boot camp classes and pilates that I attend, are challenging for everyone but we all work at our own abilities. Kristie is always very aware of people’s limitations and she makes sure that exercises are done correctly to get the maximum benefit and to prevent injury.
The classes at Chikara are relatively small and more personal than at other gyms I’ve attended but certainly no more expensive – and in some cases much less. The emphasis is on getting a good workout and enjoying the time rather than on what everyone is wearing! It is a positive atmosphere and I certainly look forward to working out with Kristie and to being part of the classes.

I have been working out at Chikara for two years. The main reason is because it is “women only” so you don’t have to feel intimated or not welcome. I love that we train outside during the summer, but that there is also a fully -equipped gym (with weights and cardio equipment) if we need to be inside due to rain. Plus, Kristie is willing to help with nutrition advice and exercise programs outside of scheduled class hours to help you meet your goals. I love Chikara!
